Great Price, Easy Install, Few Cons
Just installed this today. Took me about 2 1/2 hours in a 2012 Ford F-150. It's 90 degrees out and I sweated my butt off the entire time. If you are not scared to remove your vehicles plastic and can learn what wires to cut into and what wires to not cut then this is a DIY install. The camera install on the license plate is simple, I just popped off my tail light then used the power to the reverse light to power the camera. I ran my wiring along the frame, using zip ties where I could to secure it tightly. There was a rubber grommet that came into the trim under the rear passenger side door. Once I was in the cab it was simple, I ran it along the rest of that trim and up the window post to my headliner where I was able to connect the mirror to the camera. I ran the power from the mirror down to my fuse box where I spliced into the antenna wire that powers the amplifier for my trucks stereo system. Grounded it all out and put my trim pieces back and called it a day.Initial viewing the sun does wash the picture out some, but I had a factory back up camera on my last vehicle and it doesn't appear any different. The picture I posted is in the day time.So the negatives that I have noticed immediately. The mirror shakes while driving. The spring loaded things that hold it onto your factory mirror seem strong and I don't think it's going to come off, but I do notice more vibration with this mirror.The wire length. It could be longer. I somehow lucked out and had just enough with what it came with, but that was running the wire in literally the most efficient way possible while still hiding it properly.Overall I feel like for the price it's a great product.
