First, I had never heard of this brush. Second, I'm an impulse shopper. My scalp is sensitive and I hate having my hair brushed or combed when I go to the salon. Hence going to the salon is not enjoyable for me. Read through the reviews and decided to give the brush a try and ordered the full size "Sensitive Boar Bristle Brush. When I opened the Amazon box, I found the Mason Pearson box had a smashed corner. :^/  Hoping it wasn't damaged I looked it over. There is a small hole on the end of the brush. Maybe it's to take in and release air from the bristle cushion? Looked like there was maybe some bit of glue left around the hole but it easily rubbed off and I chalked it up to being made by hand (I thought I had read that). The brush length is ~8.5 inches and I'm glad I got the larger one. The handle is thin, ~1/4". When brushing my hair, it was more comfortable for me to rest the handle in my palm, index finger resting across the back, with thumb on one edge and other 3 fingers wrapped around the handle. Instructions say brush should touch the scalp when you start to brush your hair. It seemed to do fine. Also included was a cleaning brush. Use that to get the hair and any other debris off off the brush. Never put the brush in water. There are detailed directions regarding how to properly clean this boar bristle brush. I've not given 5 stars yet as I want to use the brush for a month and update this review. Mason Pearson has a website with short videos about how to properly use the brush, etc. Who knew? For now, I don't have any regrets as it does look like a quality brush. It comes with it's own brush. A carrying pouch or hard case for traveling would be nice. I'll be back in a month to post update and maybe add some stars.
