There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
I have no way to measure the particulate efficiency of this over another brand's filter, but I change my filters well before the recommended interval. Therefore, this more than meets my needs in an oil filter. The big plus is the built-in nut.
Pros:
- built-in nut makes for easy removal
- black color blends into the belly of the bike
Cons:
- well, that 17mm sized nut, but...
First of all, K&N filters being K&N are very easy to install and later to remove with welded 17mm nut (however, my particular case does not have such requirement due to ample space is available).
Secondly, filter quality and performance are expected to be good based on info I've found online and my own experience. Through all my readings, there has been nobody able to concretely prove K&N filters being on either side of spectrum. However, my last application, a 2007 Yamaha R6s, used 6 - 7 KN303's for a total of ~24000miles over a span of 7 years with no engine related issue. I think, with regular oil change, K&N filters will provide (at least) adequate amount of lubrication for engine longevity.
Remember, DO NOT install using a socket. That is only used to remove. If you install using a socket, you take the change of cracking the filter. If you do, it leaks, do not complain.
Installation was a breeze. I lightly lubed the o-ring of the filter with fresh oil as suggested on the internet and some reviews on here. After that, I hand tightened it and used a 17mm socket to secure it to my motorcycle (a 1/4 twist past hand tight is sufficient). There have been absolutely no issues in the 14 miles that I've rode with this on thus far. When I go to replace it for my next oil change, removal should be far easier than the OEM filter due to the 17mm welded nut.
I will definitely buy additional in the future granted it continues to perform well on my motorcycle.

Update: After riding the bike with the new filter and motul 4t 7100 engine oil i have noticed that the bike is riding smooth. Throttle response has significantly increased and the engine noise is refined and bassy even when just warmed up.
