An easy to install, affordable, and quality solution to a backup camera.
5 Stars
An easy to install, affordable, and quality solution to a backup camera.
I got this with my double din radio as kind of an add-on. It was only $20 so I thought, what the heck. I did a little research on how to wire it/where to wire to. There's really only 4 wires you need to worry about. 1 power wire, 1 ground, 1 video cable that goes into the back of your stereo, and finally a reverse trigger wire. From what I found, most people just run the power, ground and video wires to the back of the car and wire the power/ground to one of the reverse lights on your car. When you put your car in reverse, the camera gets power. This was the best scenario for me since I didn't want the camera on all the time. My reverse trigger wire (when powered tells the head unit to turn the video to the camera), I also ran to the back of the car and just wired it a little further upstream on the same power wire that gives power to the camera. Works like a charm. Put the car in reverse and both the camera and the reverse wire get power. So the stereo switches over the video and powers the camera at the same time. Easy. NOTE: Some people found a reverse signal wire underneath the drivers side steering and ran their signal wire to that. I personally didn't want to risk messing something up with all of that. The only wire left is the video wire. This goes to the "camera" plug on the back of the head unit. Done!As for for the quality of the camera, it's pretty good for a $20 camera. I mean think back to the old nokia flip phone cameras that were like 1.3 megapixels. This is better than that, but prob not the quality of the first iphones. Somewhere in between. Surprisingly the night vision works really well. I think it depends on if your license plates lights drown out the camera or not. On my Grand Prix GXP, they do not really affect the camera at all. So this was a plus. Believe it or not but the 3rd picture posted below was taken in complete darkness. It was night and I had every light in the garage out. The last pic is in the garage with all of the lights on. I was blown away that they looked the exact same!!!I've never had a backup camera, factory or aftermarket, so I didn't really see myself using it at all. But actually it's one of those things you never thought you would need, but once you have it, you cant believe you lived for so long without it. I use it every chance I get. Backing into a parking spot, pulling out of the garage, at the store in parking lots. I find myself trying to learn how much space I actually have on either side of the guide lines to utilize this thing to the max. Some days when I get to work I'll back into a parking spot just to use the camera. Pretty cool. All in all this little camera was very easy to install, works very well, and is definitely affordable. The best part is that most cameras like this take the same little 12v dc plug. So once your car is wired for this it's super easy to get a better quality camera (if you really think you need one) and just plug it into your existing wiring and presto. Insta-upgrade. Start with this one though. You won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Vey Nice Back up Camera w/ Night Vision
Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2015
My reviews are long, and easy on the eyes and very very informative. So read on:
Anyone with questions can look at each one of my review & photos concerning the 3 items mentioned below to really see and get info on how the items bond together for a perfect and flawless operation:

I love this camera. It works great. It's small. Its night vision capability is excellent ! let me repeat again, " Its night vision capability is excellent !! ". It has the grid lines which I find very very helpful when backing up and determining distance to an object. See how I gauge my distance later in this review.

My Camera is in the rear of the Suv, inside not outside. It works perfectly every time...

For my setup, I cut off all the RCA & Power plugs on camera and Monitor. Wireless Transmitter / Receiver have bare wires.
Removing plugs allow me to connect camera to the power and video wires of the transmitter. Wire from the camera now fits easily under the rubber trim that's on the vehicle that the vehicle tailgate touches when its closes.

Wire runs are only from camera, under rubber trim down to Transmitter. Transmitter power wire then goes outside vehicle over the lower trim at the same level as the rear light, into backup light bulb socket. I then replaced the Bulb, which secured the wire in place. "NO NEED TO CUT INTO VEHICLE BACKUP LIGHT WIRE" _ simply amazing !!!! I guess the tiny size of the transmitter wires accommodate this ability.
All wires are tied off and appear visually neat.

Camera signals are transmitted Wirelessly to a 5 inch Digital Color TFT LCD Car Reverse Monitor for Rearview Camera DVD VCR via the TaoTronics TT-WM01 2.4GHz Wireless transmitter / receivers modules, all purchased on Amazon.
******I attached PHOTOS showing my set up of the Camera as it relates to this Monitor. (The other black camera shown is for a separate rear dash cam. Its not associated with this Camera, Monitor, and Transmitter / Receiver setup.)

Camera sends clear color videos to the monitor, very Nice... My camera is mounted inside the vehicle. ********* (SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS)
Note - Monitor picture is much clearer than shown. Look closely and you will see the top of the receiver's antennae on the rear.
A cell phone was use to take the photo.
I gauge distance by looking at the gridlines as I back up. once yellow is close to object, I put vehicle on park, then get out of vehicle and look at how close the other vehicle is to my rear bumper. I repeat this procedure until I am satisfied with the distance.
I know my limit as a rule. In my case, the stopping point for me is at the Bottom of the Yellow grid lines. Beyond that, I know I will touch the other vehicle.
I am extremely satisfied with this camera. No regrets at all.....

See my review and photos on the monitor and the Wireless Transmitter / Receiver mentioned above also.

4.0 out of 5 stars DOA AUTOMATIC NON RETURNABLE FOR PRIME MEMBER
Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2017
****UPDATE*****

The company saw my review and was concerned. I got an email the next day after my review that they would solve my issue by sending me a brand new unit... I must say that I am impressed and the picture quality of this camera vs the one that came with my radio, plus this unit mounts with my license plate vs having to drill a whole to mount a cam... I would give them 5 stars but the only issue i have is that the new cam they sent has 1 infrared light that does not turn on (see pic) however the unit still performs well... They also stated that if i have any future issues to let them know... These guys stand behind their product...The

DOA... Electrically inclined here... was scratching my head for days to get this thing to work as my radio kept saying no video signal... First i thought it was a bad video cable, then maybe i thought i had a bad ground... I decided to pull the whole camera out, hook it up to my spare 12v car battery, then plug the video cable to my tv... Camera red led lights turned on except for 2 on the left side and i had no video signal to the tv... I decided to test a small camera that came with the radio i bought from amazon... Hooked it up to the 12v battery and the yellow video cable to the tv... Low and behold, bam the camera video feed showed up on my tv... Hooked it up to my tv radio and i was able to finally see the video feed on my radio while reversing... Really wanted the esky to work since it mounts to the license plates and I didn't want to drill a hole in my bumper.... However it ended being junk and defective right out the box, it has been less than 30 days... Im a prime customer order alot from here and Amazon is saying this item isn't returnable... So much for the "Amazon Gaurantee"... Might have to start back shopping at brick and mortar....
