From the manufacturer
Differences Between IDLAs and DLAs
Integrated door lock actuators contain complex electronics that integrate a complete door latch assembly, including the lock and unlock mechanism, into the actuator. Standard door lock actuator are mechanical components connected by a series of rods and cables to the door lock mechanism to lock or unlock the vehicle door.
Don’t sacrifice safety with a cheap replacement door lock actuator.
Dorman delivers higher quality, more reliable solutions that are thoroughly tested and built for safety.
DLA and newer integrated door lock actuator (IDLA) designs are critical components that should pass strict Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and perform properly over the long term.
- In Dorman testing, competitor actuators have failed after just 700 test cycles – or roughly just six months of simulated use.
- Dorman actuators are tested up to 20,000 cycles – equal to 15 years of use.
- Common failure modes include electrical burn out or excessive wear to internal mechanical components

10/5/15 Update
===========
My door will no longer open. I took it to the Cadillac dealership today and they said the Actuator is bad. Accordingly, this part lasted less than 4 months. Based on other reviewers, this appears to be a theme. I would recommend avoiding this part and going with the OEM version (Genuine GM 25876387 Door Lock, Front). The dealership is going to charge me $550 to replace the actuator, which hurts, but not sure I want to mess with it again myself. Disappointing!

Original Review
===========
I replaced the front right door lock actuator on our 2009 Cadillac Escalade Platinum with the “Dorman 931-304 Door Lock Actuator Motor” and it went smoothly. The door now works perfectly.
My symptoms were that my front right (passenger) door lock would not always unlock or lock with the remote or door controls.
For those of you considering replacement, it was pretty simple with this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gx3M90X_S_s). I purchased the part on Amazon for $75 and completed within an hour. After doing this once, I could replace the remaining doors in 30 minutes. Taking the door apart and getting the part in and out were the most challenging parts. I read a few forums, which state that the dealerships charges around $400 per door, so I saved $325 by doing it myself (if you had to do all 4 doors, it would save you $1300 to do it yourself).
Note that this part is for the motor only. You will have to re-use all other hardware from the old part including the cable that connects to the interior door handle. It was simple to remove from the old part. The YouTube video shows the new part coming with the cable. I just wanted to highlight this as I was concerned initially when I received the part from Amazon and it did not include the cable. Thanks to those who responded to my question in the “Customer Questions & Answers” section to clarify re-using all other hardware from the old part.
Overall, I recommend the “Dorman 931-304 Door Lock Actuator Motor” and replacing it yourself to save hundreds of dollars. As usual Amazon had the best price and it shipped in 2 days with Prime, so not only did I save a lot of money, but I was able to replace it faster than scheduling an appointment with the dealership.
It's been a little over three years since I bought and installed this part originally. About a month ago it started to act up when the weather started to get really warm here. This seems to be a common pattern with these actuators as they start to wear and go bad. The warmer the weather the more they act up. Anyway, today seems to be the day that it decided to completely fail. I will buy another to replace and hope it lasts for awhile longer.
*** Original Review:
I needed this to fix the door lock actuator in front passenger door on our 2009 Yukon Denali. Seems to be a common problem on GM Full Sized Trucks. The door lock will either slightly move when unlocking/locking the door electronically, or not at all (you can hear the solenoid trying to do something).
The picture in the product description is a little deceiving as it makes it look like it would be for the left hand side (drivers side) door of the vehicle, but it's actually upside down. After verifying the part at several product sites I bought this here on Amazon (best price by far). For the mechanically inclined, this is fairly simple to replace and can save you hundreds in paying full price for the item at the dealer plus labor rate for the install. Took me roughly an hour to do (if that) since I didn't time it and it was the first time for me working on a GM product.
