From the manufacturer
Differences Between IDLAs and DLAs
Integrated door lock actuators contain complex electronics that integrate a complete door latch assembly, including the lock and unlock mechanism, into the actuator. Standard door lock actuator are mechanical components connected by a series of rods and cables to the door lock mechanism to lock or unlock the vehicle door.
Don’t sacrifice safety with a cheap replacement door lock actuator.
Dorman delivers higher quality, more reliable solutions that are thoroughly tested and built for safety.
DLA and newer integrated door lock actuator (IDLA) designs are critical components that should pass strict Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and perform properly over the long term.
- In Dorman testing, competitor actuators have failed after just 700 test cycles – or roughly just six months of simulated use.
- Dorman actuators are tested up to 20,000 cycles – equal to 15 years of use.
- Common failure modes include electrical burn out or excessive wear to internal mechanical components

Installed on a 2005 Chevrolet Astro Van passenger door.
As some pointed out the mounting bracket is not installed on the actuator as it is set to be universal to the door being installed. To me this is ingenious as this cuts down on product sitting on a shelf somewhere.
Yes you must remove four nuts and four screws, I myself did not find this to be an inconvenience as other have. If you don't wish to deal with this you can pay more money for the AC Delco unit.
And yes the original actuators are installed with rivets at the factory, simply drill the center out with a quality metal bit, nothing from Harbor Freight though. This will definitely save your door from damaging the door by using an air chisel.
For mounting I read in reviews the mounting holes did not align for an Astro van, turn the bracket around as it's supposed to mounted on the actuator and the holes will align perfectly.
I did the driver's side last year and found that using a 1/4" x 1/2" aluminum rivet is the perfect size for mounting with no issues of being loose.
I was also surprised to find that included with the actuator were tabs to mount with screws which AC Delco does not.
I just installed this unit about an hour ago, it works perfectly. Solved my issue of the doors not fully locking or unlocking with the switch.
I did find that the door handle and locking arms were overlapped behind the arm rest mount. Bending these into the proper position solved the stiffness experienced when unlocking the door with the key.
This however was not the root cause of the door switch not unlocking and locking the door.
I did not provide a rating for longevity as I just purchased and installed it. Overall I think the product is very good and worth the spend as once I reassembled the door the lock seemed to work much better than it ever has.
I would recommend this product to anyone and everyone.
A. The alignment pins on the plastic housing were slightly too close for my original bracket.
B. I filed off some of the plastic of the smaller pin, rounded shape.
C. Note the filed-off pin, which now fits in the offset hole.

Nothing is inherently wrong with plastic gears if designed and made properly, but something is wrong with these.
