The Easy Intel CPU Performance Upgrade
Your PC will run cooler and quieter when you replace your CPU’s standard heatsink with a Hydro Series H55.
Installation is straightforward: if you can get to the back of your PC’s motherboard, you can install an H55. All you’ll need is a screwdriver.
The compact components and flexible tubing make Hydro Series H55 easy to install even if you’re cramped for space. It allows you to improve your CPU’s cooling efficiency even in most compact cases — as long as your case has a 120mm fan mount near the CPU, H55 will probably fit.

So during the shipping wait, i did do some research to determine why my processor was running so hot. Seems like the voltage was set way to high by default, so i turned it down from 1.35 to 1.20, and that dropped the heat by about 10 to 15 degrees in another benchmark, so honestly, running my CPU under load at 80 to 85*c was not that bad. I could almost live with that, so i was starting to regret my purchase.
The next thing i did while waiting for it to arrive was watch the youtube video that demo's the installation, hosted by Corsair themselves. Here it is if you wanna see it http://youtu.be/PUxoFiFuS_g . Okay, so i will say, watching the demo is a MUST, because the directions simply suck. To quote a pirate: "They're more like guidelines, really." So do watch the demo.
The installation was very smooth, other than my annoyance at having to remove the motherboard, which meant ripping out my graphics card, as well as the fan in the back to make room for the new one, unplugging all the peripherals, undoing all my beautiful cable management, and of course, removing the stock cpu fan, and cleaning off the thermal compound (i used 70% rubbing alcohol and about 20 q-tips). It took an hour just to get started! But once i was started, the cooler installed easily with no issues.
Before returning the side panels, i plugged it in and checked to make sure i didn't screw anything up. It booted up to windows, and i turned it off, redid my beautiful cable management, and returned the pc to it's home. I will say the Hydro Series cooler looks very cool in the case, just sleek and smooth. Not that it matters, as i don't have a glass side panel or anything (that stuff is for the cool kids).
Now let's talk about temps. I reran several benchmarks, and instead of peaking at 95*c... i peaked at 60*c, but usually stayed around 40 to 50 which was just shocking to me. I idled around 20*c compared to 55*c, or 45*c after lowering the voltage. So all in all, i am very happy i purchased the cooler and took the time to install it. The lower temps will give me some room to work and relieve any worry about overheating. Highly recommend this product.
Oh, and i got the quiet edition, and I did not notice any "water" sounds or loud fan sounds as other reviewers did. Well i could hear the fan, but it was an acceptable decibel.
The problem was the stand-off's would bottom out before the backplate was tight and you could move the backplate around a bit. I was afraid that this would leave the pump not fitting tight up against the CPU and thus not cooling properly (remember this is a critical area and we use thermal paste to fill in microscopic gaps in the contact area of CPU and heatsink/pump so good contact is crucial).
I fixed this issue by running to a local harware store and purchasing 4 3/16' steel washers for .13 cents each. With the washers installed the threaded part of the backplate was now barely sticking out of motherboard and the stand-off's would tighten down and hold it firmly in place. Again this may have been just a poorly designed backplate on the mobo manufacturer's part or a common issue with AMD boards in general but its easily fixed. Might be nice if Corsair started including these 4 washers as it would only raise cost by $0.52 and that's if you are paying retail, bulk would be much cheaper and it would make the setup easier if this was a common issue. (motherboard in setup is a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3)

This time I decided to go for the H80i V2 because both the liquid circulation and 2 Fans are controlled by the bios/system which would hopefully make it quieter most of the time.
Installation:
This was an absolute PIG
mistake 1 - Not checking the measurements of the fans and radiators combined. They all go flat against each other and extend quite far into the case so they are likely to go over the top of the processor or at least partially. This also means you'll have to consider the order you'll have to fit things into the chassis, including the jumper cables.
mistake 2 - Trying to fit the heat sink to the processor on my own. The liquid tubing is quite stiff, so I ended up wrestling the heat sink in place, and then maintaining it's position with equal pressure to avoid ruining the supplied and pre-fitted thermal paste, while at the same time trying to fit and tighten the bolts in virtually inaccessible areas without it busting out and smacking me on the chin or losing the bolts in the circuitry. Trust me it's best to get another person to help out.
Configuration:
The fans are linked and powered through a single 4 pin jumper which I believe is responsible for adjusting fan speed too. However there is also an additional USB connection that goes from the heat sink to an internal 9 pin USB connector. This allows you to configure the colour illumination to any 2 colours depending on the core temperatures. It may also control the liquid flow rate too but I'm guessing here.
Performance:
Really happy, the core temperatures never go over 50C even under heavy gaming. I only really notice the fan volume during gaming when they speed up and even then it's only the sound of the air flow I hear, nothing mechanical.
